What should I do if there is an error in my Aadhar card?

If you notice an error in your Aadhaar card, such as incorrect personal information or demographic details, you can get it corrected by following these steps:

1. Visit the official website of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI): Go to the UIDAI website at uidai.gov.in.

2. Click on the "Aadhaar Update" section: On the UIDAI website, locate the "Aadhaar Update" section and click on it.

3. Select the appropriate update option: In the Aadhaar Update section, you will find various options for updating different types of information. Choose the relevant option based on the type of correction required. For example, if you want to update your name, select the "Name Update" option.

4. Fill in the required details: On the next page, you will be asked to enter your Aadhaar number and provide the correct information that needs to be updated. Fill in the correct details and ensure that you enter accurate information.

5. Submit supporting documents: Depending on the type of correction, you may be required to upload supporting documents as proof of the correct information. For example, if you are updating your name, you may need to upload a scanned copy of a valid identity proof such as a passport, PAN card, or driver's license.

6. Review and submit the request: Doublecheck all the information you have provided and review it for accuracy. Once you are satisfied, submit the update request.

7. Note down the URN: After submitting the update request, you will receive an Update Request Number (URN). Make sure to note down this number or take a screenshot as it will be required for tracking the status of your update request.

8. Biometric verification (if required): In some cases, you may need to visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Center for biometric verification. This is usually required for updates related to biometric information such as fingerprints or iris scan.

After submitting the update request, your application will be processed by UIDAI. You can track the status of your update request using the URN on the UIDAI website. Once the update is approved, you can download the updated Aadhaar card or eAadhaar with the corrected information.

It's important to ensure that your Aadhaar card has accurate information, as it is a crucial identity document.
